This is a matching pair of elegant ceramic sculptures depicting horse heads, crafted in the traditional Chinese "Sancai" (three-color) glazed style.
The horses are modeled with arched necks and highly stylized, flowing manes. The surface is richly decorated with deep, incised scrolling patterns, characteristic of Tang Dynasty artistic motifs. The glaze is a striking combination of amber-brown, vibrant green, and cream, which pools beautifully in the carved details, highlighting the intricate design.
Each horse head rests on a decorative, tiered pedestal base with lotus petal and geometric borders. The unglazed, flat bases show a reddish-clay body with a central firing hole. These impressive, weighty pieces are perfect for display on a console table, bookshelf, or as a striking pair flanking a mantel.
