The velvet runs unbroken across the back, the arms and the seat, so the color carries the whole piece.

A beechwood frame sits underneath, with the legs finished in antiqued walnut to ground all that color. At 25 inches wide with a seat 20 inches deep, it is built for the long end of dinner rather than for a quick meal, and the width asks for a table with some length to it. Check the apron before ordering, since the arms are meant to slide under a standard table height.

Use a pair at the table ends against lighter side chairs, or set one in a bedroom or study corner where the green can hold the room on its own. Olive sits well with walnut, brass and warm plaster, and it takes the chill off a room built on cool grays. The tall back reads as a piece of upholstered furniture rather than as another dining chair. See less
