At its full 71-inch diameter, the top forms a radial pattern of pie-cut sections meeting at the center like compass points. Closed, it is a 55 inch daily table; the perimeter leaves deploy from within the table itself, so there is nothing to carry from a closet.
The base is the drama: an X-form pedestal of shaped oak members crossing under the top, sculptural from every seat in the room. Oak and oak veneers carry a finish warm enough to read almost russet in evening light.
Seats four to six closed and eight comfortably open. The self-storing expansion takes one person about a minute - lift, rotate, and the table sets itself.
