The gray is a vintage leather, mottled rather than flat, so the surface shifts in tone as it travels across the back.

The back stands 37 inches high, tall enough to let the tufting read across a dining table without blocking the sightline down it. At 20 inches wide and 25 deep, the seat is generous enough for the long dinners this kind of chair is built to host, and still narrow enough to line several along one side of a table without crowding.
