The body is woven from flat, tightly interlaced splints in a classic checkerboard weave, with upright staves running through the horizontal weavers to create a rhythmic, tactile surface. A reinforced rim, bound with hand-wrapped strips of rattan in an irregular lashing pattern, finishes the opening and adds both strength and an unmistakably artisanal quality. Two upright, squared-off handle tabs rise at either side, integrated into the rim for easy carrying. The finish has matured into a warm, consistent patina, moving from honeyed caramel to deeper cinnamon in the recesses of the weave, with a gentle sheen that enhances the woven texture. Minor fraying along the edges and slight discoloration lend an honest, lived-in character. Utilitarian yet quietly sculptural, the basket reflects the Shaker devotion to simplicity, durability, and function.

Place this basket in a farmhouse kitchen, mudroom, or entryway to hold firewood, blankets, produce, or magazines, or display it on a coffee table or floor as a rustic centerpiece. It complements Boho, Farmhouse, Rustic, Organic Modern, and Shaker-inspired interiors. To care for it, dust with a soft brush, wipe with a barely damp cloth, and allow it to dry completely; keep it away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp spaces to protect the natural fibers. The basket measures 20.5 inches (521 mm) wide, 20.25 inches (514 mm) deep, and 10.5 inches (267 mm) high. Condition is good, with normal age-related wear, minor fraying, and slight discoloration, and the structure remains sound with no significant damage or repairs.
