This expressive hound dog sculpture is hand modeled and glazed by skilled artisans in the celebrated Shiwan pottery tradition of southern China. Captured in a poised walking stance, the piece features soft floppy ears, an alert uplifted head and a gently raised tail, with subtle surface texturing that evokes the natural flow of fur.
Shiwan pottery is renowned for its masterful animal modeling and organic earth-toned glazes. This graceful dog sculpture brings quiet character to Chinoiserie, traditional, transitional and Asian-inspired interiors. It works beautifully as a statement centerpiece for a console, mantel, bookshelf or executive desk, and carries a traditional meaning of prosperity and good fortune.
