This piece is solid, sturdy, and functional.
The lamp turns on/off by way of thumb switch.
The globe spins around and also lifts out of the base if you need to do so.
I have never needed to change out the lightbulb, so I cannot comment on how to go about it. Although I would assume it is not too difficult...

This piece will take a footprint of roughly 30" in diameter X 42" tall.
Very minor natural age related wear may have the slightest possibility of being found throughout. The walnut stand does show the mortise tenon joinery on the sides where the wood is connected. You can probably touch this up, or stain over it if you desired. Or if it bothers you at all, you can just turn the globe into a position so you do not see it when it is presented in a room.
