Manufactured by the renowned West German firm Bay Keramik around 1957–1958, this highly collectible piece features factory mold model number 438.

The dish boasts a striking, fluidly asymmetric leaf-like silhouette that epitomizes the late 1950s space-age aesthetic. Its interior is finished in a mesmerizing high-gloss mint green/turquoise network glaze, decorated with a dark brown cellular "soap bubble" pattern that varies elegantly with the light. The wavy rim is meticulously traced with hand-applied metallic gold gilt accents, contrasting beautifully against the deep, chocolate-brown high-gloss glaze on the underside.

The base is explicitly impressed with the origin mark "GERMANY," the model number "438," and features an original gold quality control emblem near the unglazed footing ring. Perfect as a cocktail table catchall, an artistic entryway tray, or a standalone sculptural object within a curated Mid-Century Modern collection. See less
