This exceptional example of Art Deco Chinese design captures the transitional aesthetic of the early 20th century. Its sophisticated palette and intricate scrolling vines distinguish it among other antique rugs from the period.

The design is characterized by a dense, all-over floral pattern surrounding a subtle central medallion, rendered in soft tones of faded coral, beige, and taupe. This departure from traditional Ming or Kangxi coloration defines the Chinese Art Deco movement, which prioritized elegant simplicity and Westernized scale.

Hand-knotted in China, this piece showcases the technical mastery inherent in early 20th-century Chinese rugs. The wool pile is plush and resilient, providing a luxurious texture that complements the restrained colorway and ensures longevity.

Measuring generously, this textile is ideally suited as a commanding room size anchor for a formal living space or grand dining hall. Its enduring elegance ensures it remains a timeless acquisition for the discerning collector. See less
