This louis xv style bombé commode dates from the early 20th century.
materials: marquetry veneer (rosewood and palisander), breccia marble top, patinated bronze mounts.
features: this commode opens with two drawers. Its curved front and sides are adorned with checkerboard marquetry, framed by a darker veneer. The marble top with its molded edge follows the convex shape of the piece. The two drawers, without a central rail, open with pull handles and close with rocaille bronze keyhole escutcheons. Corner mounts, an openwork apron, and bronze sabots embellish the commode, which rests on four tall cabriole legs.
condition: the commode is stable on its feet. In superb condition, both its marquetry and its marble top; a small (barely visible) chip is present on the right side.

bottom drawer: w87 x h16 cm.
