Light filters outwards through the uniform gaps between each heavy coil, creating horizontal banding when the internal bulb is illuminated, while leaving the central column open at the top. Produced by Harvey Guzzini in Italy, the base retains its original rectangular manufacturer foil label reading 'gh harvey guzzini made in italy'. The minimalist, industrial construction pairs an unadorned cylindrical lower casing, which houses the lampholder and internal electrical components, with the flexible upper spring sleeve. A standard white power cord exits through a grommet near the base rim.

Standing approximately 23 cm in total height, the lamp dates to circa 1970 and exemplifies the stripped-back, mechanical aesthetic popular in Italian lighting design during this era. The internal lampholder accepts a standard light bulb positioned centrally inside the core of the coil. The piece is reported to be in working order. The chrome-plated surfaces exhibit widespread age-related wear, with extensive pitting, oxidisation, and spotting across the outer turns and interior faces of the coiled wire. The lower plinth also displays scattered tarnishing and light surface scratches. The flexible spring column currently leans slightly off-centre from the plinth socket.
