In Sweden the style is known as ‘nybarock’ (new Baroque or Baroque Revival) The rectangular top has a moulded edge and shows a lively oak grain. Below it, the frieze is framed by fluted corner blocks. Four spiral turned legs rest on square blocks and are joined by a cross stretcher with a stepped profile, standing on bun feet. The oak is stained a deep reddish brown with a warm, even tone. Its proportions make it a versatile piece, equally suited as a console in a hall, a table behind a sofa or a display table in a living room. The spiral legs, cross stretcher and bun feet give the table the robust, warm character of Baroque furniture, in a compact size.

The table is in very good antique condition, with a patina and normal signs of wear consistent with its age. See less
