This Italian silver decorative vase incorporates mixed stylistic elements from ancient Near Eastern art, referencing Assyrian, Persian, and Egyptian iconography. Produced by the Florentine workshop Etruria Arte Argento during the late twentieth century, the vessel features detailed low-relief friezes stamped into the body, showcasing figures and symbols reminiscent of historic antiquity.
The exterior surface combines sections of standard 800 silver with partial gold gilding to highlight the decorative bands. This dual-tone technique creates a strong contrast across the structural lines of the container. The piece still bears its original paper price tag showing a retail price of 200,000 Italian Lire, reflecting its market positioning in Italy during its period of production.
Silversmiths in Florence frequently produced revivalist and historical-themed decor, adapting museum archaeological findings into small scale household ornaments. The vase comes with a separate presentation pedestal for stable tabletop display.
