This is a beautifully crafted rectangular wooden box featuring intricate mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlay work on the lid. Crafted from a dark, richly grained hardwood with a deep reddish-brown patina, the box features a distinct two-tiered base with small bracket feet.
The lid is beautifully decorated with a detailed nature scene. A bird with a white body and vibrant, iridescent green wing feathers is perched on a twisting, gnarled branch adorned with delicate shell blossoms and leaves in shades of white and pink. The corners of the lid are further accented with decorative, scrolling shell inlays. The artisan has utilized various tones of iridescent shell to create a dimensional artwork against the dark wood background.
The box opens smoothly via a lift-off lid to reveal a clean, unlined wooden interior, making it an elegant storage solution for small treasures, desk accessories, or tea implements.

The wood exhibits a beautiful, deep patina with pronounced natural grain variations. There are minor surface scratches, small dings, and slight wear along the edges and corners, which are typical for a piece of this age. The mother-of-pearl inlay is largely intact and highly iridescent, with a few tiny, isolated areas where the shell appears slightly uneven or has minor fill upon close inspection. The structural integrity of the box and its base is solid. Please review all photos carefully for a detailed view of the condition. less
