Each lightweight candlestick features a tulip-shaped cup with a gold leaf Chinthe, the guardian lion of Burmese tradition, framed by scrolling foliage above a ringed domed base, while the S-curve tray is bordered in flowing scrollwork and floral cartouches and stands on four black lacquered legs. This set comes from the estate of a US Foreign Service officer who served at American embassies across Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Europe from 1956 to the early 1980s, and was acquired in the late 1950s to early 1960s and kept in storage since. A signed provenance statement accompanies the purchase, and documentation of the officer’s service is available on request. Each candlestick measures 3.25 inches high with a 2.75 inch base diameter, and the tray measures 13 inches long, 2.25 inches wide, and 2.5 inches high. Display candles are not included. See less
