The piece is cleverly designed to mimic a cluster of bamboo stalks (symbolizing resilience and integrity).

The central vessel has a rounded, swelling body supported by bamboo-form legs and flanked by curving bamboo-branch handles. The surface is applied with detailed bamboo leaves. The domed lid is heavily pierced with openwork bamboo leaf and stalk motifs to allow incense smoke to escape, and is topped with a sculpted guardian lion finial. The entire censer rests on a matching, tiered base with pierced bamboo latticework.

A recessed rectangular seal containing four characters (reading "大明宣德年製" - Made in the Great Ming Xuande Period) is visible on the flat, bronze underside of the base. This heavy, eye-catching piece serves as a stunning focal point for a mantel, shelf, or collector's display.
