This is a striking and substantial decorative censer (incense burner), crafted from cast bronze with rich gilded (gold-toned) accents. The spherical body is finished in a dark, patinated bronze and features a prominent high-relief scene of a laughing Buddha (Budai) surrounded by playful children, symbolizing joy, abundance, and good fortune. Stylized, gilded clouds float around the figures.
The vessel is supported by three stout, dark bronze legs, each detailed with a gilded beast-face mask at the top. The sides feature ornate, sculpted dragon-form handles with gilded heads and curving loop terminals. The domed lid is crafted with intricate, pierced openwork featuring swirling waves and dragon motifs, allowing incense smoke to escape. It is topped with a detailed, gilded guardian lion finial resting its paw on a ball.
A recessed rectangular seal containing four characters is visible on the flat, dark metal underside of the base. This heavy, eye-catching piece serves as a stunning focal point for a mantel, shelf, or collector's display.

The gilded highlights are largely intact and bright, though there is slight wear on the high points and handles. The interior of the censer shows the natural, dark metal finish. The openwork lid and lion finial are intact. The recessed seal on the base is clear. The structural integrity of the piece appears solid.
