It is handwoven from flat, honey-toned splints in an open, rhythmic weave, with long ribs radiating in sweeping arcs from the base and giving the body a soft, shell-like geometry. The weave tightens near the base and loosens toward the shoulders, so small gaps let light pass through and add lively texture and dimension. A thicker, wrapped rim band finishes the top edge, with visible lashings and a few tufted ends that show the maker’s hand. The finish is a warm, natural palette of honey, caramel, and deeper amber-brown, with soft tonal shifts from strip to strip and a gentle, burnished sheen where years of handling have polished the surface.
