A rare and highly collectible antique French porcelain oversized breakfast cup and saucer set manufactured by Haviland & Co. in Limoges, France. This piece features the legendary "Baltimore Rose" pattern (Schleiger 1151) rendered on the heavily sought-after Blank 652 mold—characterized by its beautifully scalloped edges punctuated by rich, heavy daubs of hand-applied overglaze gold sponge-gilding along the rims and loop handle. The design showcases a vibrant underglaze and overglaze motif of climbing pink wild roses weaving across thorny brier stems.
Measuring a substantial 4.25 inches across the cup rim, this rare, large-format breakfast/large coffee cup carries an elite dual backstamp: the underglaze green "Haviland France" factory mark paired with the red overglaze retailer mark custom-commissioned for the Gilded Age West Coast luxury purveyor, Howell-Dohrmann Co. of Oakland, California (circa 1893–1930).
