Three shallow drawers run across the front, each with a bronze-finished French-style pull, and the shaped apron below ends in a fine banded edge. The legs are tall cabriole curves that sweep out and back in, which gives the table its lightness. It is the kind of mid-century Italian furniture made to be a pleasure to sit at.

At 42 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 30 inches high, it is a proper writing table, and it also works as a vanity, a console or a small desk in a bedroom or a living room. Pull it out into the room so the curve of the legs can be seen from the side. The drawers keep stationery, keys and chargers out of sight, and the walnut sits well with plaster, leather and brass.
