An exceptional late-17th-century William and Mary chest-on-stand, dating to circa 1675–1700, featuring beautifully figured burl walnut veneers, original-style teardrop drawer pulls, and substantial cannonball feet. The period dating has been confirmed through examination by an antiques expert. This distinguished piece showcases the artistry of early English cabinetmaking, with richly patterned, book matched burl walnut veneers, decorative escutcheons, and an architectural silhouette characteristic of the William and Mary period. The upper chest features two smaller drawers above three full-width drawers with original dovetail joints, resting on a separate lower stand with additional drawer storage, a shaped apron, and beautifully turned ball feet. Both pieces are original to the late 17th century. The combination of warm walnut tones, remarkable grain patterns, and centuries of natural patina gives this chest an extraordinary presence. Both historically significant and wonderfully functional, this antique offers generous storage while serving as a striking statement piece in a bedroom, library, entryway, or living room. It complements Traditional, English Country, Jacobean, and thoughtfully collected interiors, while bringing depth and authenticity to more contemporary spaces. A remarkable example of early English furniture, offering over three centuries of craftsmanship, character, and enduring design.
