This exquisite example of 20th-century Chinese weaving is executed in luxurious silk, lending a remarkable sheen and clarity to the complex design. It is a highly collectible piece among antique rugs due to its exceptional condition and vibrant, yet balanced, color scheme.

The field employs a desirable neutral ground, characteristic of fine Art Deco-era Chinese production. The soft, luminous pile utilizes an ivory color rugs base, allowing the delicate, allover pattern of intertwining vines and stylized floral sprays to emerge with subtle dimensionality.

The design is populated by mythological creatures rendered in deep indigo and cerulean tones, contrasting beautifully with the light field. Several stylized Chinese lions, or Foo Dogs, are scattered throughout the composition, traditionally symbolizing protection and prosperity.

Framed by a striking midnight blue main border featuring repeating floral medallions, the rug maintains a crisp visual structure. Its intimate dimensions classify it as a highly versatile scatter size, perfect for adding a touch of sophisticated, historic artistry to an entryway or bedside. See less
