The chair has been upholstered in quality leather which has then been custom hand dyed and antiqued, creating the rich cigar and saddle-brown tones, darker areas and wonderfully convincing variation normally associated with leather approaching a century of age. Importantly, this is not an antique chair; it is a brand-new piece deliberately created and finished in the traditional style. The design is particularly handsome, with a broad curved back flowing into generously proportioned scroll arms, a substantial loose seat cushion and elegant straight natural oak legs. The upholstery is finished throughout with individually applied antiqued stud work, beautifully outlining the sweeping arms, front rail, sides and back. The hand-finishing of the leather is really what sets the chair apart: rather than the flat, uniform appearance associated with most new leather furniture, the surface has been worked to produce variations of colour and an intentionally aged character, including the attractive crazed appearance across the seat cushion and arms A wonderfully comfortable and decorative chair that combines the structural advantages of new furniture with the character of a genuine antique, making it ideal for a library, study, drawing room or gentleman's office.
