The rectangular cabinet sits between two shaped timber frames, with rounded corners softening their angular profile. Attractive grain across the top and sides adds plenty of interest to this practical little piece.

It would make a great bedside table, with space for a lamp and clock above and your current reading tucked underneath. Equally useful as an occasional table beside a sofa, it could also serve as a compact media unit in the lounge. The open compartment provides space for books, magazines or small audio equipment, while the open back makes it easy to route cables. Castors on all four legs allow it to be repositioned when needed.

Its raised cabinet, splayed frame and simple layout reflect the practical approach to mid century furniture design, combining useful storage with a lighter, more open appearance. The maker and designer have not been identified.

The cabinet has been restored in our workshop, taking care to preserve its distinctive details and bring out the grain and colour of the wood. It is ready to find a useful spot in its next home, whether beside a bed or a favourite armchair.
