a bold interplay of primary colours and black lines brings rhythm and structure to the room.

the composition balances rectangular fields of red, blue, yellow and white within a black grid, reflecting the geometric language associated with mondrian and the de stijl movement. Presented in a square frame behind glass, the print has a strong architectural presence.

piet mondriaan (1872–1944) was a dutch painter and a central figure in the de stijl movement. His work evolved from figurative landscapes towards an increasingly abstract language of straight lines, rectangular planes and primary colours. He called this approach neo-plasticism, seeking balance and harmony through the relationships between colour, line and space. His distinctive visual language has had a lasting influence beyond painting, shaping architecture, interiors, graphic design and fashion.

nouvelles images s.a. Was a french publisher of art prints, posters and reproductions. The printed inscription identifies the publisher and includes the credit “© spadem 1983” and “sérigraphie – printed in france.” this is a vintage screen-printed reproduction of mondrian’s painting, produced decades after the original work.

mondrian’s work continues to attract international attention. On 14 october 2026, his composition iii from 1920 sold at christie’s in london for approximately €29.8 million.

condition
the print is in excellent vintage condition, with only light discolouration along the edges. The colours remain bright and rich, retaining their strong visual impact.
a small break in the glass sits close to the frame at the left corner and is barely noticeable when hanging. The frame has some scratches on its upper surface, which are not visible when displayed on the wall.

a distinctive graphic accent above a sideboard or desk, ideal for a modern living room, study or hallway.
