French Art Nouveau Cast Iron Umbrella Stand - Deville & Cie No. 120 - c. 1920

French Art Nouveau umbrella stand/walking stick holder manufactured by Deville & Cie., a historic foundry in Charleville, Ardennes, France. Model No. 120, first third of the 20th century, ca. 1920-1930.

An important example made of cast and openwork iron, with a distinctly Art Nouveau design, featuring sinuous lines and stylized plant motifs. The structure features a large, asymmetrical central oval surrounded by stems and leaves of clear organic inspiration, culminating at the top with a handle and horizontal support for umbrellas and walking sticks.

The lower section features a rectangular base decorated with plant motifs and an original, detachable, white-enameled drip tray with internal divisions.

The model identification is particularly interesting: both the frame and the tray itself bear the number 120. This number corresponds to model no. 120 in the Deville & Cie. catalog, where it is documented as a portable umbrella holder with a removable tray. The model appears in the factory catalogs during the 1920s.

It retains its original assembly elements, including square bolts and nuts, as well as an attractive patina developed over time. It exhibits wear, minor surface losses, localized oxidation on the joining elements, and other signs typical of a utilitarian piece approximately a century old, visible in the photographs.
