A commanding Mid-Century Modernist table lamp defined by architectural minimalism and substantial scale, executed in the manner of Chapman Manufacturing, circa 1968–1975.
The base is formed from a monumental, exceptionally thick-walled clear glass cylinder with a solid weighted bottom, providing dramatic ballast and optical clarity. Resting flush over the glass rim is a fitted stepped circular cap of spun solid brass displaying an authentic, naturally aged speckled patina with warm rosy micro-oxidation beneath the original lacquer.
Exemplifying high-end trade lighting engineering of the era, the lamp is wired with a top-exit cord directly from the upper brass socket assembly. This intentional designer method completely preserves the uninterrupted refraction and purity of the heavy glass column, eliminating the need for unsightly internal wiring or stress-inducing drilled base holes.
The fixture features an original turned brass neck riser, solid brass spherical ball turn-switch, standard harp, and an open-ring circular loop brass finial. A clean, versatile statement piece that bridges Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, Hollywood Regency, and Palm Beach coastal aesthetics.
