A striking mid-century Italian majolica ceramic centerpiece bowl sculpted in a dramatic, organic grotto style. This exceptional art pottery piece features a clustered formation of deeply ribbed clams and scallop shells, creating a beautifully textured, wavy rim. The exterior showcases an elegant, hand-painted ombré glaze palette, blending soft blush pink and cream with delicate accents of seafoam green highlighting the undulating footed base. The interior is finished in a smooth, high-gloss white glaze that beautifully catches the light.
The undercarriage bears a classic hand-scripted green "ITALY" signature, a mark used by regional Italian art pottery studios and export houses during the 1960s and 1970s. Remarkably, the piece retains its original paper warehouse registry sticker ("C159"), indicating it was carefully preserved as a cabinet display piece. With its sculptural presence and soft pastel palette, this versatile vessel serves as a stunning standalone sculpture, a statement console bowl, or a glamorous addition to a Palm Beach Regency or coastal-inspired interior.

It exhibits light, age-appropriate glaze crazing, which is entirely characteristic of vintage Italian majolica earthenware and enhances its authentic antique character. The interior shows minor, minor manufacturing flaws beneath the glaze (such as tiny kiln spots or slight glaze pops), which are inherent to hand-thrown, hand-glazed mid-century Italian art pottery and do not detract from its structural integrity or display value. Base retains its original paper registry label. less
