This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving presents the refined elegance characteristic of Peking production. The design is a sophisticated study in contrast, utilizing a deep, saturated indigo field, a classic choice among blue color rugs, to highlight the delicate, scattered floral elements.

The field features an airy, allover arrangement of stylized blossoms, vines, and symbolic vases rendered in a luminous gold hue. This open composition allows the rich texture of the wool pile to dominate, creating a sense of quiet luxury. Such pieces are highly sought after by collectors of fine antique rugs.

A substantial border frames the central design, repeating the gold coloration and incorporating continuous scrolling vines and larger, more formal floral sprays. The precise knotting and high-quality wool speak to the technical excellence achieved by Chinese weavers during this period of artistic resurgence, reflecting a masterful blend of traditional motifs and modern aesthetic sensibilities.

Perfectly suited for intimate spaces or as an accent piece, this rug offers a powerful visual anchor despite its modest dimensions. The combination of saturated color and traditional Chinese motifs makes it a versatile addition, whether utilized as a small scatter size rug in an entryway or layered within a larger decorative scheme.
