Handcrafted in France during the mid-19th century, the pair reflects the symmetry, refined ornamentation and classical elegance associated with Louis XVI neoclassical design.

Each sconce is richly decorated with floral garlands, scrolling foliage and finely modelled classical details, with subtle eagle motifs adding further sculptural character. The substantial bronze construction gives the fixtures both visual presence and lasting quality.

The sconces retain their original fire-gilt finish, which has been carefully and professionally cleaned rather than newly gilded. The warm gold surface displays a naturally developed antique patina that beautifully emphasizes the depth of the bronze casting.
