This is a striking and vibrant sculpture of the Manjushri Bodhisattva, crafted from translucent Liuli (pate de verre) glass. The figure is depicted in a traditional seated pose atop a double-lotus pedestal, holding a flaming sword aloft in the right hand to cut through ignorance, while the left hand holds a delicate stem supporting a lotus flower that bears a sutra text.
The sculpture is richly detailed with vivid, painted or enameled accents. The Bodhisattva's face is a warm, luminous amber, framed by an elaborate crown and headdress in jewel tones of red, blue, and gold. The flowing robes are a mix of dark brown and deep blue, heavily decorated with intricate, raised gold floral and scroll motifs, with bright red sashes swirling dynamically around the figure. The base is sculpted to resemble a lotus flower, with the glass itself transitioning through shades of amber, red, and green.
A recessed rectangular seal containing four characters is visible on the flat underside of the base. The translucency of the glass allows light to pass through, giving the piece a warm, glowing presence. This substantial sculpture serves as a stunning focal point for a meditation space, altar, or a collector's display.

The glass is largely intact with a smooth, glossy finish and beautiful translucency. There are minor surface scratches and slight wear visible on the painted/enameled details, particularly along the high points and edges of the robes, which is typical for a piece of this material and age. The engraved seal on the base is clear and legible. The structural integrity of the sculpture, including the delicate sword and lotus stem, appears solid. Please review all photos carefully for a detailed view of the condition. less
