This substantial and richly decorated piece features a magnificent central figure of Durga, the multi-armed Hindu goddess of divine power and protection, seated atop her lion or tiger mount. The intricately detailed, brass-toned metal sculpture is surrounded by smaller representations of Hindu deities, including Ganesha, the flute-playing Krishna, and a dancing figure positioned above a serpent.

The deeply recessed wooden shrine is lavishly embellished with colorful stone and glass-like cabochon inlays in shades of turquoise blue, coral red, amethyst purple, amber, and green. Additional decorative elements include intricate metal filigree ornaments, engraved copper-colored plaques, and traditional floral and paisley motifs. The contrast between the richly patinated metal figures, vibrant inlays, and dark aged wood creates a particularly striking visual effect.
