Born in Berlin, Reinhard Caspar studied at the Academies in Berlin and Kalrsruhe before continuing his studies in Paris, Rome and Munich. A resident of Dachau, near Munich, the artist preferred to paint light-filled watercolors. In Dachau, he was also a student of the painter Adolf Richard Hölzel, who was an early promoter and teacher of modern styles such as abstraction.
