Vintage Hungarian Studio Art Pottery Ceramic Vase Wi/Applied Chestnut Relief 12"
A striking piece of vintage Hungarian studio pottery, this handmade ceramic cylinder vase features a high-gloss black glazed body adorned with a prominent, tactile three-dimensional applied relief. The organic sculpture depicts a trailing branch laden with heavily textured leaves and segmented wild chestnut buds (vadgesztenye).
The ochre and warm tan gradient glazes on the foliage create a beautiful, rich contrast against the deep black backdrop. Designed with a subtly flared, fluted rim and concentric ring details detailed around the base, this elegant artisanal piece perfectly balances rustic European craftsmanship with a sleek mid-century modern or post-modern aesthetic. The underside features a clean, unglazed foot ring and a solid black center with an unreadable/faint studio signature or incised artisan mark typical of independent Hungarian potteries.
