This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece captures the sophisticated aesthetic of the Republican era. The field is dominated by a luxurious, deep indigo, a hallmark of desirable blue color rugs from this period, providing a dramatic backdrop for the delicate, scattered motifs.

The central design features a sparse, yet balanced, arrangement of stylized floral sprays and a central vase motif, lending the piece a refined, open quality. Such compositions were highly prized for their ability to anchor a spacious interior, making this a superb example of room size rugs intended for grand reception areas.

A striking contrast is achieved by the broad, pale gold border, which frames the deep blue field with elegance. This border is intricately detailed with continuous scrolling vines, stylized chrysanthemums, and traditional Chinese avian symbols, demonstrating the masterful execution characteristic of high-quality antique rugs.

Woven with fine wool and retaining remarkable pile depth, this rug is a testament to the technical skill of 1920s Chinese workshops. Its vibrant palette and elegant, uncluttered design ensure it remains a timeless statement piece suitable for both traditional and contemporary environments. See less
