This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece, dating from the height of the style's popularity, showcases a dramatic use of color blocking and negative space. Its luxurious, hand-knotted wool pile and commanding scale make it a superb example of antique rugs from the early 20th century.

The expansive central field is rendered in a saturated, near-indigo tone, providing a powerful, velvety backdrop. This deep hue is characteristic of sophisticated blue color rugs designed to anchor grand interiors. The contrast is established by the unusually wide, vibrant magenta border, which frames the composition with bold, modern sensibility.

Adhering to the minimalist aesthetic of the period, the design eschews dense patterning in favor of emphasizing the rich texture and the striking geometry. Delicate, stylized floral sprays and potted plants are positioned sparingly in the corners, executed in subtle secondary tones of gold, rust, and teal.

The generous dimensions classify this piece among the finest room size rugs, suitable for a formal living area or large dining space. Its enduring quality and striking visual presence ensure that this 1920s masterpiece remains a highly sought-after collectible, bridging traditional craftsmanship with the nascent modernism of the Art Deco era.
