The deep, warm patina of the mahogany glows beside the soft veining of the marble, and a single frieze drawer outlined in brass molding is finished with a small round brass knob. Slender turned and tapered legs lift the tables to a tall, graceful silhouette, joined by a lower shelf and finished in brass sabots.
The French Louis XVI style is admired for its neoclassical elegance, refinement of line, and delicacy of ornament. Mahogany elegantly appointed with brass became a signature of the Parisian cabinetmakers who revived and reinterpreted the style, and the pairing remains one of the most enduring expressions of French taste. Each table is solidly constructed in that cabinetmaking tradition, with clean proportions and carefully fitted brass trim.
Lovely flanking a sofa, beside a pair of reading chairs, or as bedside tables in a guest room. Their compact scale suits smaller spaces, and the classic union of mahogany, marble, and brass sits beautifully in both traditional and transitional interiors.
Circa early 1900s.
Each measures 27H x 15.5W x 11.5D
