The cutout backs and the pale oak give the chairs a light, sculptural look. Mid-century modern design, which flourished from the 1940s into the 1960s, favored organic shapes, honest materials and comfort in the years after the war. A natural patina has developed over the decades, adding depth that cannot be reproduced. Whether anchoring a reading corner or completing a grouping, it carries the quiet confidence of a well-made seat.
