The carved, shaped door panels and brass pulls give it a warm, handsome presence. The Louis XV style takes its name from the French king who reigned from 1715 to 1774, and its taste for curved lines and graceful ornament, known as Rococo, shaped French furniture for generations. Provincial workshops kept the cabriole leg and the shaped apron alive long after the court had moved on. Signs of age are consistent with its years and part of its quiet appeal. Against a plain wall it becomes the quiet focal point of the room. See less
