The chunky carved frame and the deep cushions give it a lodge-like comfort. Brutalist design of the 1960s and 1970s favored bold, sculptural and heavily built forms in natural materials such as oak, with a deliberately raw and weighty presence. Signs of age are consistent with its years and part of its quiet appeal. Whether anchoring a reading corner or completing a grouping, it carries the quiet confidence of a well-made seat. See less
