This exceptional example of 1920s Art Deco Chinese weaving represents a sophisticated departure from earlier styles. Its restrained palette and bold use of negative space define its modernist aesthetic, making it a compelling piece for collectors of refined antique rugs.

The primary feature is the intensely saturated field of cobalt, a hallmark of the most sought-after blue color rugs from the period. The main design elements—stylized bamboo and peonies—are rendered in a subtle tone-on-tone blue, creating a quiet, elegant texture that avoids visual clutter and emphasizes the rug's impressive scale.

The composition is asymmetrical, balancing the monochromatic field with a single, vibrant accent: a vase of chrysanthemums rendered in soft pink, tan, and white hues. This selective use of color highlights the dramatic contrast against the deep background, defining it as a superior example of floral rugs from the Art Deco movement.

With its substantial dimensions, this piece functions perfectly as a magnificent foundation for a main living area or dining space, anchoring the room with historical integrity and unparalleled visual depth. Such impressive room size rugs are rare finds, offering both period authenticity and enduring style to a contemporary interior. See less
