A carved marble portrait bust in the Roman style, described by the seller as a Grand Tour work dating to circa 1850 and depicting Emperor Augustus. The figure has closely arranged hair, a long neck, and drapery across the shoulders and chest. Carved details remain visible at the ears, hair, and folds of the garment. The pale stone has an aged, uneven surface. The face is extensively worn, particularly across the nose, mouth, and chin, limiting a confident identification of the sitter from the photographs. A painted number, “3825,” appears on the rough-finished back of the bust; it is presented here as a recorded marking, not an edition number or maker’s mark. A sculptural decorative object for collectors of Grand Tour works, classical portraiture, and Roman-style marble sculpture.
