A charming pair of mid-century vintage travel souvenir pillow covers celebrating historic landmarks in the West of Ireland. Highly collectible and beautifully preserved, these decorative textile covers feature vibrant, hand-painted graphic illustrations against an plush black velveteen ground. Each is framed with an intricate yellow braided trim and a full gold bullion fringe.

Featured Landmarks:
1. Galway Cathedral: Features a nighttime depiction of the famous stone cathedral dome and bridge.
2. Ashford Castle: Captures the majestic battlements of the famous castle on Lough Corrib in County Mayo, complete with a classic rowing boat on the lake. The fronts showcase deep black velvet with striking contrasting pigments, while the reverse sides are finished with a classic mid-century vibrant orange rayon/satin backing fabric. These items were originally designed open on three sides to allow for custom inserts, or they can be mounted flat in a shadow box as distinct wall tapestries.

Condition

Very Good Vintage Condition. The hand-painted front panels are incredibly bright with minimal paint flaking or fade. The gold fringe is largely intact around the borders. The orange rayon backs show light creasing from storage, typical of authentic textiles of this era, but are free of major tears or dry rot. Sold as covers only (no inserts included).
