This exceptional example of early 20th-century antique Chinese weaving captures the essence of the Art Deco movement through its bold, asymmetrical design and deep, saturated field.

The luxurious, high-pile wool is dyed a magnificent, rich red. This saturated field provides a dramatic canvas for the delicate botanical composition, which utilizes a sophisticated palette of pale gold, sage green, and soft blues, highlighting the Art Deco preference for clarity over complexity.

The composition features two sweeping floral branches originating from the upper left and lower right corners, drawing the eye across the vast, open space. These stylized roses and peonies are rendered with painterly precision, emphasizing volume and dimension rather than traditional flat patterning, a hallmark of the finest Chinese Art Deco production.

With its substantial dimensions, this piece is ideally suited to function as a room size rug in a grand living space or formal dining room. It remains an enduring testament to the glamour and artistic innovation of the 1930s, offering both historical value and striking visual impact for the discerning collector. See less
