This impressive hand-knotted wool piece exemplifies the elegance and scale of early 20th-century decorative weaving. Its generous dimensions make it a truly large oversized rug suitable for grand interiors seeking historical authenticity.

The composition is defined by a striking contrast between the expansive, subtly luminous cream field and the deep, saturated navy border. The use of this rich indigo hue anchors the design, making it a superb example of blue color rugs from this period, where color saturation was used to dramatic effect.

Within the open field, scattered motifs of vases, floral sprays, and auspicious symbols are rendered with delicate precision in shades of cobalt and soft peach. This minimalist arrangement draws the eye to the meticulously detailed border, which features continuous, stylized flowering vines that frame the central space beautifully.

Dating to the 1920s, this piece captures the transitional aesthetic prevalent during the Art Deco era, blending traditional Eastern symbolism with Western decorative restraint. It remains a magnificent, well-preserved example of antique rugs that offers both visual tranquility and enduring quality. See less
