An exceptional 19th-century Pennsylvania German grain-painted blanket chest originating from Manheim, Lancaster County, PA. Hand-crafted with solid pine dovetail construction, this striking trunk features a vibrant, original flame-grained feather finish in deep reddish-amber tones, strikingly framed by bold ebonized top and base moldings and turned ball feet.
The piece retains its original pressed brass escutcheon, original lock, key, hinges, and interior glove till. The raw wood interior is remarkably clean and well-preserved. With its sleek low profile and dramatic folk art finish, this chest serves beautifully as an impactful coffee table, entryway trunk, or end-of-bed storage bench in traditional, country, or organic modern spaces.
