This is an exceptional pair of hand-carved wooden guardian lion statues, traditional symbols of protection, power, and prosperity. Crafted from boxwood, the pair features a rich, warm honey-brown tone with a highly polished, glossy finish that highlights the natural, swirling wood grain.
The pair consists of a male and a female lion, each seated attentively on an intricately carved, multi-tiered pedestal base decorated with geometric and floral motifs. The male lion rests his paw upon a carved, patterned ball, while the female lion playfully rests her paw on a small cub. Both figures are deeply carved with highly stylized, curly manes, expressive faces with bared teeth, and intricate harnesses adorned with bells.
The reverse side of each lion is equally detailed, featuring a carved ribbon and tassel motif hanging down the back. These substantial, heavy figures make a magnificent statement for an entryway, mantel, or desk display, blending fine craftsmanship with traditional symbolism.

The wood has a beautiful, polished luster with minor surface wear, small scuffs, and faint scratches visible in some areas. There is a small amount of whitish residue or dust caught in the deeper crevices of the carving, particularly around the bases and manes, which could likely be cleaned out if desired. The carving remains crisp, and there are no major cracks, chips, or repairs visible. Please review all photos carefully for a detailed view of the condition. less
