A truly monumental and breathtaking pair of vintage Chinese cloisonné enamel vases, sourced from a private collection. Standing at an impressive 40 cm (15.7 inches) tall and weighing approximately 9 kg (nearly 20 lbs) combined, these massive vessels are a spectacular display of traditional craftsmanship and imperial aesthetics.
The vases are heavily cast from solid bronze, featuring striking, sculptural elephant-head handles (a symbol of peace and good fortune, "Taiping Youxiang"). The bodies are elaborately decorated in vibrant cloisonné enamel, primarily in a rich azure blue, adorned with intricate scrolling lotus and geometric patterns.
The focal point of each vase is the large, lobed central cartouche (medallion) featuring a lively scene of golden and red goldfish swimming amongst aquatic plants—a classic Chinese motif symbolizing wealth and abundance ("Jinyu Mantang").
