Add a touch of auspicious elegance and vibrant color to your home with this stunning pair of vintage Chinese cloisonné elephants. In Chinese culture, elephants symbolize good luck, wisdom, strength, and the warding off of bad energy, making them highly sought-after decorative pieces.
These heavy, solid bronze elephants (total weight approx. 3.5 kg) are exquisitely crafted. They feature intricate, multi-colored cloisonné enamel work depicting vibrant floral and scrolling motifs against a classic turquoise-blue background. The raised surfaces—including the trunks, ears, and decorative saddle blankets—are richly gilded (gilt bronze), providing a luxurious contrast to the enamel.
The elephant on the right has its trunk raised (a traditional symbol of spraying water and bringing wealth), while the other has its trunk curled inward. This impressive pair possesses a beautiful aged patina and will be a gorgeous statement piece on a bookshelf, console table, or as a thoughtful housewarming gift.
