An exceptional, highly collectible oversized presentation charger platter crafted by the master artisans of the celebrated Tupesy Pottery workshop in the Moravian-Slovak region of the Czech Republic. Measuring a dramatic 14.25 inches across, this narrative piece functions beautifully as a striking architectural focal point or a centerpiece addition to an international folk art collection.
Unlike common floral-patterned plates from this workshop, this masterwork boasts an intricate, narrative monochrome scene rendered entirely in vivid cobalt blue over a rich white tin glaze. The center depicts three folk figures in highly detailed traditional wedding attire (kroj) native to the Slovácko region, showcasing massive ornate wedding headdresses (věnec), heavily pleated puff sleeves (rukávce), and stylized structural supports.
The inner rim is framed by a sweeping landscape border featuring regional castles and churches, interwoven with the beautifully hand-lettered lyrics of the traditional Moravian wedding folk song, "Ej, od Buchlova":
“Ej, od Buchlova větr věje, už tej Kačence pantle bere. Dneska nevěsta, zajtra žena, dnes večer budeš začepená.”
(Translation: "The wind blows from Buchlov, already stripping the ribbons from Kačenka. Today a bride, tomorrow a wife, tonight your hair will be capped.")

• Condition Details: The reverse displays its authentic unglazed red earthenware footing ring and features a factory-made pierced foot rim with an attached hanging wire, ready for wall display. Signed with the hand-painted cobalt blue workshop mark on the underside. See less
